Obama’s 30 Minute Ad Will Delay Baseball Start

16 Oct

The Hollywood Reporter and the Los Angeles Times report that Major League Baseball today granted Fox’s request to delay the start of the game from 8:20 pm ET to 8:35 pm ET.

Fox will collect an estimated $1 million in ad revenue. CBS and NBC have also agreed to run the 30-minute campaign ad.

In September, in deference to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., NBC asked the National Football League if it could move up the game between the reigning Super Bowl champion New York Giants and the Washington Redskins from 8:30 pm ET to 7 pm ET.

NBC was contractually obligated to air the game until its very end, even thought it coincided with the last night of the Republican National Convention, and it wanted to make sure the game had concluded by the time McCain came to the podium to accept the Republican presidential nomination.

Nonetheless, RNC spokesman Alex Conant issued a statement assailing Obama for the move, saying, “It’s unfortunate that the World Series’ first pitch is being delayed for Obama’s political pitch. Not only is Obama putting politics before principle, he’s putting it before our national pastime.”

I’m curious to see what a 30 minute Obama ‘infomercial’ looks like, but I don’t think it will change my vote at all.

This is the dumbest political exercise I’ve ever heard of…
What is there to prove? What is not needed at this point is a rallying point to unite rednecks and wing-nuts alike. You plan to hold up the start of a World Series game to force feed the public a partisan message while holding an undeniable lead??? The champagne folks involved in this decision should have their heads examined!
Shhhh, I hear echoes of Nixon… Regan… Bush (dubya)…. Ahhh, and I can smell a lead evaporating. Americans HATE being force fed anything almost as much as they hate blatant displays of “we have more money than you do…”
Please, PLEASE reconsider, this could spell doom!!!
    dumb, Dumb, DUMB
