Obama ‘Redistribution of Wealth’ Audio

27 Oct

During a 2001 radio interview with WBEZ-FM, Chicago’s NPR affiliate, Obama spoke of the “tragedy” that redistribution of wealth wasn’t pursued by the Earl Warren led Supreme Court in regards to the civil rights movement. It was Obama who brought up the topic of redistribution of wealth. Listen for yourself.

Update: McCain senior policy adviser Douglas Holtz-Eakin said in a statement:

“The American people continue to learn more about Barack Obama. Now we know that the slogans ‘change you can believe in’ and ‘change we need’ are code words for Barack Obama’s ultimate goal: ‘redistributive change.’ In a previously uncovered interview from September 6, 2001, Barack Obama expressed his regret that the Supreme Court hadn’t been more ‘radical’ and described as a ‘tragedy’ the Court’s refusal to take up ‘the issues of redistribution of wealth.’ No wonder he wants to appoint judges that legislate from the bench – as insurance in case a unified Democratic government under his control fails to meet his basic goal: taking money away from people who work for it and giving it to people who Barack Obama believes deserve it. Europeans call it socialism, Americans call it welfare, and Barack Obama calls it change.”

Yes, you are right. We are all socialists, we pay our taxes we let politicians redistribute our money… It is AMERICA

That is what we do, it is what we will continue to do…

    Somewhat socialist

AMERICA is a wonderful country. I am happy that I have public education, glad I have libraries, glad we have the US mail service, and glad we have a government that redistributes our wealth…

    Health Care –

Give everyone the same coverage (if they want it) – socialist

Give everyone a tax credit for coverage – socialist

Not all American’s pay taxes. Should those who do not receive additional money from those who do? I don’t think that’s fair at all.

When Obama talks about ‘redistributing wealth’ he isn’t suggesting adding more services like additional teachers or adding more postal workers (gesh Terra wake up) he means taking money and giving it back to people who are NOT adding to the system in the first place. That’s what he means and it’s socialist ideology.

If people need assistance they should have access to programs within their State to help or through their local communities. It’s not the job of the Federal Govt. to take money from rich people and spread it to others.

I received an email today with quotes that sum up my thoughts on the subject. The quotes were published in 1942 by William J. H. Boetcker, a Presbyterian minister.

    1. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
    2. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong
    3. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
    4. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
    5. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man’s initiative and independence.
    6. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
    7. You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
    8. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
    9. You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
    10. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they will not do for themselves.

If anyone believes that Obama’s plan gives to people who don’t work and doesn’t pay taxes they haven’t read the plan…

If anyone believes that they have read Obama’s plan and that it says something substantive and unambiguous, THEY haven’t read the plan.

A progressive tax code is not what Obama’s “tax cut” plan is about. A progressive tax code means that all citizens pay some tax- from a small percentage amount to an increasingly larger percentage up to a max amount.

His plan suggest giving people a $1000 check every year -even if they do NOT pay income taxes. Why? Because Obama thinks that is fair. This is a major shift in how it works now. That’s why people are making a big deal about Obama’s comments on redistributing the wealth, because what he is suggesting is taking more from one group (the people who are paying the highest amount) and spreading it out as a yearly cash allowance to another group that is not paying anything into the system in the first place.

That doesn’t seem fair to many of us.
